Student learning
We extend the boundaries of learning by providing a rich, relevant, engaging, and innovative curriculum that is accessible to all.
Our Inclusive Classroom approach provides clarity and support, facilitating mastery in learning across all subjects. We inspire confident and accomplished readers and communicators through a reading-rich environment and develop resilient and independent learners prepared for life after school.
We are committed to the pursuit of excellence, delivering achievement for all and celebrating individual successes through an ethos of encouragement and praise. Our classrooms focus on Challenge, Ownership, Dialogue and Engagement (CODE), ensuring students think hard, take ownership of their learning, and develop as confident communicators.
Student Leadership
Student leadership and student voice is a strong feature within our school.
We provide a range of clearly defined student leadership roles, from classroom responsibilities to whole-school positions, ensuring progression and accessibility for all students. Through ‘Me Time’, we provide opportunities for students to develop their skills as leaders in communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and self-management.
Students have a voice through half termly headteacher meetings with school council representatives and feel heard with their contributions valued. Our students lead on charity work, sustainability projects, and represent the school at events, developing confidence and skills that prepare them for future success.
STUDENT Challenge
We create aspirational and ambitious learners who think creatively and embrace challenge.
Challenge is integral to our lessons, with teachers having high expectations and ensuring lessons are ambitious and accessible for all students. We provide extracurricular enrichment opportunities and raising aspirations activities for all students.
Students learn to be willing to ‘have a go’, be happy to redraft work, take risks, learn from mistakes, and persevere with resilience. We provide age-appropriate careers education from Year 7, with extensive opportunities for broadening horizons through engagement with local employers, businesses, and role models.
Student Support
Through effective communication, we work in partnership with parents and carers to provide timely and effective support, care, and guidance for all students.
We ensure our students feel happy, safe, valued, and cared for, fostering strong and positive relationships by instilling a culture of respect and kindness. Our school provides a safe place – a place of nurture and intervention where aspirations and next destinations can be realised and supported. Our wraparound provision includes emotional wellbeing support, SEND provision with personalisation plans, and pastoral care that addresses individual needs.
We promote equality and diversity, preparing students for life in modern Britain by supporting British values.
